Super Shorts 2011: The Half-Light.
This was a project I worked on last year and is a very memorable project due to the people I met on it and how those relationships have flourished over the past 18 months. Anyway the short has been nominated for best cinematography and requires voting in order to win. It’s not often that I do this purely because I don’t feel like the projects are...

'Undefeated' Trailer - Worth watching →
I haven’t really posted anything lately as I didn’t feel like I had anything worthy of sharing with you so rather than posting for the sake of it I decided to hold fire. I’ve been quite busy recently as I’ve been focus pulling on various jobs but I’m also in prep for a short film that I’m going to be DP’ing as of next week for a few days. However enough of...

Seeking good DSLR adapter (ZF to EOS)?
So some of you guys are very familiar with shooting DSLR by the sounds of it and I’m seeking some advice as I generally don’t shoot DSLR so haven’t done much research. I have a 5D MKII kit which I’m looking to fine tune and improve. I hire it out for corporate shoots and smaller budget shoots as a little money maker but it appears the adapters I have aren’t very good....

Personal Blog →
So I’m sure some of you may know that my ‘Rolling Shutter’ blog is kept as work related as possible and I’m planning to keep it that way as opposed to the constant re-blogging of gifs, pictures of kittens and nude women. I do however from time to time wish to post blogs which aren’t related to work but are still genuine posts from me. If you wish to follow that blog...

Follow a good friend of mine on his photography... →
An extremely good friend of mine that I went to film school with, who I have also shot for on numerous occasions has started up a blog for his photography. Primarily a writer/director he is also taking photographs in his spare time in order to ensure the creative juices are still flowing. With Tumblr being the social network it is it can be difficult in order to get your blog seen and I decided...

Good blogs to follow
I’ve been on Tumblr for a while now and I think I’ve made a concise collection of the ones I enjoy, however I’d like to discover more. Can anyone recommend me some really good blogs to follow? I want to find those that have some personality, some soul as some may say. I do not wish to follow blogs which are purely saturated with reblogs. Can anyone make any recommendations?

If you’re on Twitter and you’d like to follow me then please feel free. It’s still the same old waffle but on another social networking site instead!!
ARRI Alexa gets into gear on 'DRIVE' →
I went to see ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’ last night and just before the film came on they showed a handful of appropriate trailers for new release films and ‘Drive’ happened to be one of them; starring Carey Mulligan and Ryan Gosling, two actors who I absolutely adore. Anyway here’s an article on the ARRI Group” News section with a Q&A with the DP Newton...
Fancy a film blog to follow? →
My flatmate and fledging camera hobbit has a Tumblr and I thought I’d share it with you. If you read his ‘about me’ section you’ll soon discover that his short but sweet description of himself couldn’t be much truer. Give the boy some love gang!
Arri at IBC 2011 - Part 1 of 4 (find remainder on... →
ARRI’S Mark Shipman-Mueller talks to the press about the new ARRI ALEXA developments. For those of you interested in the Arri Alexa then I definitely recommend watching these four videos. Some of you may find this boring as it’s pretty ‘techie’ but I’m sure some of you will love this. I know that my clapper loader will get off over this!
Alexa Frame Rate Safety Guide →
One of the most often misunderstood aspects of the ALEXA menu structure pertains to the camera’s frame rate options. There are four separate places to set a frame rate and they all do something very different. If you’re at all interested in the Arri Alexa or have had trouble with the menu system before then this could clarify a few things for you.
In-camera filters for Alexa →
Interesting article about filters which can be used on Arri’s lovely Alexa camera.
navytaxi-deactivated20111122-de asked: Just came across your blog. Just want to say you're an inspiration. My goal in life is to become a cinematographer and at the moment there's a lack of opportunities for me. Hope you don't mind me following your blog. Keep up the good work. Em. x
bitchezdontknow asked: Hi there! So I'm a 2nd year Film student in the US and I was just wondering how you broke into the filmmaking industry. I've been having a lot of trouble finding a way to gain hands on experience without already having some, y'know? Its like trying to find your first job kinda. Anyways, any tips or pointers would totally be appreciated! Thanks :]
